Biobox - one year older and a little bit wiser....

IMPORTANT BIOBOX CHANGES

 

Starting on 30th March Biobox will make the following changes in delivery:

  

  • Private Biobox deliveries will be made every 2 weeks.
  • We will continue to deliver fresh organic products every Tuesday at Terra Sana Deli, in Marbella
  • All Biobox deliveries will be made on a Tuesday/Wednesay.
  • You should order 1 week before delivery to avoid disappointment
  • Orders will be delivered by the transport company SEUR Andalucia
  • Orders should be pre-paid on the internet with Credit card, Paypal or by bank transfer
  • Transport costs will apply to all customer/orders
  • We can only deliver authenticated internet orders from registered customers

Happy Birthday!

Biobox is one year old today. In the last 12 months we have delivered 28,500 kg of Organic Food to customers throughout Andalucia.

What started as just an idea for Cortijo Cornelio to help our neighbouring organic farmers has developed into a serious "organic business", with over 200 customers and 75 organic farmers and producers and a rapidly growing local organic product range. For this, we thank all our customers and our compañeros for your moral support in achieving this important milestone.

The rate of growth of Biobox has been exceptional and the benefits for the environment, the organic movement and for the social and economic sustainability of small organic farming in Andalucia is quite tangible.... and vital.

 

Growing pains

But, its not easy and we have many problems which threaten this "Organic cooperation":

The logistics of delivering fresh organic food in Andalucia are seriously difficult. The distances are great, the weather conditions are extreme and, in the middle of an economic crisis, the costs and economies of scale constantly threaten the sustainability of small-scale organic food production and the viability of organic box delivery. So, we need to adapt.

We have arrived at a moment when we can no longer continue to grow the Cornelio Biobox project without some important organisation changes.  In order to continue and improve our organic box delivery service and the environmental sustainability of our operations, we need to make some important changes in how we work.

 

Important Strategic Changes that you need to understand

In order to continue and expand the distribution of organic food in Andalucia, we need to make some changes in our operations for both ethical and economical reasons:

1. We need to be more environmentally efficient and sustainable

2. We need to be more efficient in collection and delivery

3. We need to improve customer service, choice and satisfaction

4. We need to help our fellow organic farmers to continue to deliver organic food to the public.

 

So what operational changes?

1. DELIVERY CYCLE: We noticed in the last year that most customers only order every 2 weeks, and many of you have difficulty getting your order into Biobox on time.......... so we decided it would be better to deliver every 2 weeks. Its much more environmentally efficient and gives you more time to make your order.

2. DELIVERY METHOD: We are going to use a transport company to deliver. SEUR deliver all over Andalucia at a low cost, overnight and with chilled vans in the summer. Cornelio cannot continue to deliver quality fresh organic products efficiently when we have a lot of orders. So we are going to give the delivery work to the professionals. COD (payment on delivery) is not possible.

3. QUALITY and FARM LIAISON: Biobox will focus on the harvesting, quality assurance and packing of fresh produce.  SEUR will do the driving and delivery to you, our customers. All deliveries will take place during working hours on a WEDNESDAY. This system is environmentally and economically more efficient and reliable, and the product you receive will be of a higher quality.

4. COSTS: Transport costs will increase slightly for you. A 10kg box will cost around 7€ for delivery. However, our plan is to absorb part of this additional cost in lower product prices and you should see this almost immediately.

5. ORDERING TIMES: To maintain an efficient delivery regime our customers need to help us. The most important part of this cooperation is for you to order on time so that we can plan the harvests and delivery. You have 2 weeks to order...... don't leave it until the last minute.... its a shame to disappoint you.

6. PAYMENT: In order to pay our farmers on delivery when we collect their harvests, we need you to pay for your Biobox orders. You can pay by secure Paypal, Credit Card or by Bank Transfer. We make refunds within 24 hours for any missing products on your order.

 

Finally....

No-one like change very much, and we need the understanding and support of our customers with our re-organisation. We believe that you will have a better quality, more efficient and sustainable service and we look forward to providing you with excellent, fresh, organic boxes for years to come.
