Ecoibéricos de Jabugo S.L. was founded by Ángeles Ruiz y Miguel López, with a Dehesa farm of 750 hectares certified as DO (Origin certified):

We are dedicated to the production and curing of the finest quality organic iberian ham fattened exclusively on the famous bellota acorn according to the generations' old family tradition and techniques
that have been passed down to us. Now these traditional farming practices have a new name: Organic farming.

This type of production demands a respect for the forests and for the maintenenace and recovery of the cultures and traditions of the land, our lands - in the Sierra de Huelva.

In these mountains, where we were born, work and live, as Andalucian´s who love Andalucia, we work to create traditional products with an eternal taste. We create superb quality products for every table and budget, so that everyone can enjoy the delights of our traditional, gourmet products.

Our land

Our forests (dehesas) are mostly oak and cork-oak, with abundant pasture and wild-life. They are an excellent example of forests in a perfect and sustainable equilibrium between man and nature.

We are supervied and fully certified as an organic farm by the CAAE. This means we are completely free of herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilisers. GMOs, of course, are completely forbidden and excluded from our farm.

We take particular care of the ground cover and soil of our mountains in order to prevent soil erosion and we do this by avoiding aggressive agricultural and forestry practices. To avoid any risk of groundwater contamination we enforse a strict regime of stock rotation.

Dehesa

Our Animals

They are born and live exclusively in the freedom of our forests. We look after the welfare, health, hygiene and food of our pigs in a completely organic way which far exceeds the demands of the European regulations for Livestock management.

When necessary, we treat our animals with herbal remedies. We have aquired, over the years, a large variety of indigenous medicinal and aromatic plants, which helps to make for a healthy and varied diet for the pigs with very little disease. Here there are no growth enhancing hormones! Our animals feed on wild grasses, herbs, grains and upland scrub,

During the fattening season, from October to March, when the oaks bear their fruit, our organic Iberian pigs are fed exclusively on acorns.
